25 Social Media Video Ideas for Singapore SMEs (2027)

October 28, 2026Shawn Liu13 min read

The best social media videos for a Singapore SME aren't trend dances. They're short, vertical videos that answer what a customer is already wondering: does this work, what does it cost, can I trust you, what happens next? Get one of those answered in the first three seconds and you have a video that earns its place in the feed. Usually it can run as an ad too.

Below are 25 ideas grouped by the job they do: trust, demand, education, behind-the-scenes, offers and seasonal. Each comes with a hook line in Singapore English, a shot list you can film on a phone in an afternoon, the industries it suits, and an honest view on whether it works as an ad.

Before you film: three rules

  1. ▸Hook in the first line, not the third. TikTok's creative best practices advise introducing your proposition in the first 3 seconds. Open on the result, the problem or the question, never on your logo.
  2. ▸One video, one point. If you need "and also…", that's a second video.
  3. ▸End on one action. "WhatsApp us 'KITCHEN' for a quote" works better than a list of five ways to contact you.

Trust: prove you're the real deal

1. Before / after in five seconds

  • ▸Hook: "This toilet was like this for 15 years. Now see."
  • ▸Beats: wide "before" (hold for one second) → the problem close up → quick cut or swipe to "after" from the same angle → one line on what was done → CTA.
  • ▸Suits: cleaning, renovation, aircon, beauty, car grooming, pest control.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes, usually your strongest. Use the same angle and lighting both times, or it looks staged.

2. Home walkthrough from finished-project photos

  • ▸Hook: "4-room BTO in Punggol, 10 weeks after handover. Come in."
  • ▸Beats: the main door opening → living room → kitchen detail (handles, countertop edge) → bedroom → the one design decision the owner loved.
  • ▸Suits: renovation, interior design, carpentry, furniture.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes. You can make it from photos you already have (see the section on AI video below). Only show the actual project, and get the homeowner's OK first.

3. Founder story in 30 seconds

  • ▸Hook: "I left my bank job to open a bak chor mee stall. Here's why."
  • ▸Beats: you on camera, one sentence of backstory → the moment you decided → what you do differently today → a shot of the work → "come say hi".
  • ▸Suits: every industry, especially owner-run services, clinics, tuition and F&B.
  • ▸As an ad: Sometimes. Good for retargeting people who already know you, weaker for cold audiences.

4. A real review, shown with permission

  • ▸Hook: "Auntie Mary sent us this after her mum's first week with us."
  • ▸Beats: the message on screen (name hidden unless they agreed to show it) → footage of the service → one line from you on what made it work → CTA.
  • ▸Suits: eldercare, tuition, home services, beauty.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes. Ask the customer in writing before you use their words, face or name.

5. Customer FAQ answered on camera

  • ▸Hook: "Someone asked: 'Can you install on HDB walls or not?'"
  • ▸Beats: the question on screen (a comment or WhatsApp, anonymised) → a straight answer in one sentence → show it → "send us your question".
  • ▸Suits: everything. This one becomes a series.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes, when it's a question that stops people buying.

Demand: make people want it now

6. POV: the problem

  • ▸Hook: "POV: your aircon drips on your bed at 2am."
  • ▸Beats: the problem moment, acted or real → the annoyed reaction → your technician arriving → the fix → "WhatsApp us 'AIRCON'".
  • ▸Suits: home services, pest control, plumbing, IT support.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes. Problem-then-fix is a classic ad structure.

7. Hawker / kopitiam POV

  • ▸Hook: "POV: you're the wok at a Toa Payoh zi char stall at 7pm."
  • ▸Beats: camera fixed on the wok or counter → orders flying in → the dish coming together → the plate landing in front of a customer.
  • ▸Suits: hawkers, kopitiams, cafés, bakeries, any business with a satisfying process.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes, as a reach ad to people nearby. Add your stall number and opening hours on screen.

8. "Things you didn't know we do"

  • ▸Hook: "Most of our customers don't know we also do this."
  • ▸Beats: the service people know you for → "but also…" → three quick shots of the lesser-known services → CTA.
  • ▸Suits: salons, clinics, cleaning companies, print shops, renovation.
  • ▸As an ad: Mostly not. Use it for existing followers to grow the average order.

9. The 10-second product hero

  • ▸Hook: "If you're still using a bath towel for your hair, watch this."
  • ▸Beats: the product in use → the one feature that matters, close up → a real result → where to buy (Shopee, Lazada or your site).
  • ▸Suits: e-commerce, retail, F&B products, skincare.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes. Make three versions with different first lines and let the numbers pick the winner.

Education: answer it before they ask

10. "3 mistakes when…"

  • ▸Hook: "3 mistakes people make when choosing a tuition centre."
  • ▸Beats: mistake 1 with a visual → mistake 2 → mistake 3 → "here's what to look for instead" → CTA.
  • ▸Suits: tuition, renovation, eldercare, financial services, clinics.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes, and it gives you credibility without sounding like a sales pitch.

11. What drives the cost (with no prices)

  • ▸Hook: "Why can two kitchen quotes be so different? 4 reasons."
  • ▸Beats: the question → reason 1 (materials) → reason 2 (hacking and plumbing works) → reason 3 (carpentry) → "send us your floor plan and we'll tell you honestly".
  • ▸Suits: renovation, events, weddings, aircon, web and design services.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes. It filters out bargain-hunters and builds trust with serious buyers. Leave prices out: they date fast and invite comparison shopping.

12. Myth vs fact

  • ▸Hook: "Myth: cleaning the aircon filter yourself is enough. Fact…"
  • ▸Beats: "MYTH" card with the common belief → "FACT" card → show why, close up → one tip → CTA.
  • ▸Suits: home services, beauty, fitness, pet care.
  • ▸As an ad: Sometimes. Only use claims you can back up, especially for anything health-related.

13. One-term explainer

  • ▸Hook: "What's the difference between a facial and a chemical peel ah?"
  • ▸Beats: the term on screen → a one-sentence plain-English meaning → show it → who it's for and who it isn't → CTA.
  • ▸Suits: beauty, clinics, renovation (vinyl vs tiles), tuition (streaming and subject choices).
  • ▸As an ad: Rarely. It's great for search and saves, so keep it organic.

14. "How to choose a…" checklist

  • ▸Hook: "Choosing a nursing home for your dad? Check these 5 things."
  • ▸Beats: five quick points on screen, each with a matching shot → "save this for later" → CTA.
  • ▸Suits: eldercare, childcare, tuition, contractors, movers.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes, for high-consideration services where people research for weeks.

Behind the scenes: let people see the work

15. Day in the life

  • ▸Hook: "6am to 9pm with our cleaning team in Tampines."
  • ▸Beats: start of day → three jobs in quick cuts → the tough moment → end of day → a short reflection.
  • ▸Suits: home services, F&B, clinics, studios.
  • ▸As an ad: Not really. It builds your following and helps with hiring.

16. Process reveal

  • ▸Hook: "This is how we make 300 ang ku kueh before 8am."
  • ▸Beats: raw ingredients → the hands-on step → the satisfying close-up → the finished product on display.
  • ▸Suits: F&B, bakeries, craftsmen, florists, tailors, fabricators.
  • ▸As an ad: Sometimes. It works for reach, so pair it with a clear offer.

17. Meet the person who'll serve you

  • ▸Hook: "This is Hafiz. He'll be the one fixing your aircon."
  • ▸Beats: name and role → how long they've been doing it → what they're fussy about → them at work → "ask for Hafiz".
  • ▸Suits: any business where a stranger comes into the customer's home.
  • ▸As an ad: Sometimes. It does reassure people about letting someone into their flat.

18. Packing orders

  • ▸Hook: "Packing your Shopee orders, one by one."
  • ▸Beats: order screen (with customer details blurred) → items picked → careful packing → note or freebie added → courier pickup.
  • ▸Suits: e-commerce, home bakers, gifting, florists.
  • ▸As an ad: Rarely. Good for loyalty and repeat buyers.

Offers: give people a reason to act

19. The offer in one sentence

  • ▸Hook: "First-time customers: free chemical wash check with any servicing this month."
  • ▸Beats: the offer on screen in large text → what's included, shown → who it's for → the exact words to WhatsApp → end date.
  • ▸Suits: everything.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes, it's built to be one. Make sure the offer is real and the terms are written down.

20. "What happens on your first visit"

  • ▸Hook: "Nervous about your first trial class? Here's exactly what happens."
  • ▸Beats: arriving and the front desk → the first 10 minutes → what you'll do → what happens after (no hard sell) → how to book.
  • ▸Suits: fitness, tuition, beauty, clinics, enrichment.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes, because it removes the main reason people don't book: not knowing what to expect.

21. Bundle unboxing

  • ▸Hook: "Everything inside our new-home cleaning package."
  • ▸Beats: the package name → each item or service revealed one at a time → the total benefit → how to book.
  • ▸Suits: cleaning, gifting, F&B catering, beauty packages.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes, especially before festive peaks.

Seasonal: ride the calendar

22. CNY 2027 countdown

Chinese New Year 2027 falls on 6 and 7 February, according to MOM's public holiday list.

  • ▸Hook: "Last call to clean before CNY. Slots this week only."
  • ▸Beats: the calendar → the job (cleaning, car detailing, hair, hampers) → the result looking festive → booking cut-off date.
  • ▸Suits: home services, beauty, bakeries, gifting, car grooming.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes. Start in early January, because CNY demand is booked weeks ahead.

23. Festive "how we celebrate"

  • ▸Hook: "What our team eats on Hari Raya morning."
  • ▸Beats: a team member's home or table → a short personal story → the dish or tradition → a greeting from the business.
  • ▸Suits: every business with a team that's happy to share.
  • ▸As an ad: No. It's for goodwill. Only feature people who are comfortable with it, and get the details right.

24. Year-end refresh

  • ▸Hook: "December school holidays = the only time to repaint the kids' room."
  • ▸Beats: the seasonal reason → the job → the result → the deadline before slots fill.
  • ▸Suits: painting, renovation, tuition (Primary 1 prep), enrichment camps.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes, the timing does the selling.

25. Shopping-day explainer

  • ▸Hook: "11.11 is coming. What to actually stock up on from us."
  • ▸Beats: the date → the three products worth buying → why → where (your store or marketplace page).
  • ▸Suits: e-commerce, beauty, supplements, home goods.
  • ▸As an ad: Yes, but every other brand is advertising that week too, so get it out early.

Specs the platforms actually publish

Here's what the official help centres say. Most other "ideal length" numbers you'll see online are opinions.

In practice: shoot vertical, keep captions in the middle band of the frame, and add subtitles, because plenty of people watch on the MRT with the sound off. If you're deciding where to put most of your effort, our comparison of TikTok vs Instagram for business in Singapore covers how the audiences differ.

Film one idea three ways: the same video with three different first lines. Post or run them all and keep the winner. The first line changes results more than editing does.

Making video without a shoot: AI from photos you already have

Many SMEs have hundreds of good photos and almost no video. AI video can turn those photos into short clips: a camera gliding through a finished living room, a product turning in the light, a shopfront going from day to festive night.

What it's good for

  • ▸Walkthroughs from finished-project photos (idea 2), when the site has already been handed over and you can't go back to film.
  • ▸Volume and variations. Several hooks, a CNY version and a Hari Raya version of the same asset, without booking a crew each time.
  • ▸Product hero shots (idea 9) with movement that's hard to get on a phone.
  • ▸Testing ideas cheaply before you pay for a proper shoot of the winner.

Where it falls short

  • ▸It must not invent your work. A renovation walkthrough must show the room you actually built. If the AI adds a feature that isn't there, you're misleading customers. Treat every frame as a claim.
  • ▸People talking to camera. Founder stories, FAQs and reviews (ideas 3–5) work better filmed for real. Trust comes from a real face.
  • ▸Fine detail drifts. Text on packaging, hands, logos and small product features can warp between frames. Someone needs to check every take and reject the bad ones.
  • ▸It needs a person with taste. Choosing shots, pacing and the final edit is still what separates a good clip from an obviously generated one.

Our Cartier spec ad shows how far the detail can go. It's a self-initiated spec, a 15-second fully generated film that Cartier did not commission, made to test whether AI could hold luxury-level detail. It was delivered in landscape, so it shows the quality ceiling, not a ready-made Reel. For a fuller look at when AI beats a camera crew and when it doesn't, read AI vs traditional video production in Singapore.

For anything showing real customers, homes or staff, get permission before posting, and blur names, addresses and phone numbers on screen. A WhatsApp screenshot with a visible number is an easy mistake to make.

Common mistakes

  • ▸Opening with a logo or "Hi guys". You've used up the three seconds that decide whether people stay.
  • ▸Posting the same idea once and giving up. Most of these ideas work as a series. FAQ #12 often beats FAQ #1.
  • ▸Putting text where the buttons sit. Check the safe zones above before you export.
  • ▸Chasing trends that don't fit. A dance won't win you a big-ticket renovation. A good walkthrough might.

Where to start

Pick three ideas from this list: one trust video, one education video and one offer video. Film them this week and run the best one as a small ad for two weeks. That will teach you more than a content calendar of 30 posts.

If you'd like help, our social media marketing service covers planning, filming and running these videos as ads. If you'd rather turn the photos you already have into video, see AI brand videos. Either way, drop us a WhatsApp: tell us what you're trying to do, and we'll tell you honestly whether video is the right next step.

He builds the studio's products and client systems hands-on — from conversion-focused websites and web apps to AI agents, operations software, visual search and generative-AI video. His builds include Onz (onz.sg), a live agentic events site for Singapore whose "My Day" planner turns a one-line request into a day plan of real events, meals and travel times grounded in live NEA weather and OneMap data; a workforce portal for a Singapore SME covering GPS-geofenced check-in, shift rostering and leave approvals; a tile visual-search prototype that matches a customer's photo to the closest catalogue products; and a generative-AI luxury spec ad produced end to end with AI footage, compositing and grading. Shawn's working rule is simple: AI is only useful when it is grounded in real data and solves one specific job — so every build starts small, is tested on real cases, and earns the next one.
