Cartier Spec Ad — A Generative AI Luxury Film, 2026
Context
Luxury advertising lives or dies on detail. A jewellery ad has a second or two to make metal look like metal, and to make the room, the light and the pace feel expensive. That standard has always needed a production budget most brands can't justify.
We first made this spec in 2024 to test whether generative AI could reach that level. In 2026 we remade it from scratch, because the tools and our process had moved on enough to hold the detail a luxury brand would actually sign off.
The Brief
A 15-second film for Cartier built entirely with generative AI: the LOVE bracelet as the hero, Cartier's panther as the character, and a finish that holds up next to a production-budget luxury ad — on a full screen, in 4K.
What We Built
The film opens on the product, not the animal: a macro of the LOVE bracelet's screw motif with panther fur crossing the gold. The panther then walks towards the camera down a Paris apartment hallway, the bracelet catching the lamp light on every step, and settles on a red velvet cushion before the Cartier wordmark lands.
Every shot was generated and regenerated until the details held: the screw heads on the bracelet, individual strands of fur, the reflections in the parquet. Takes where the gold went soft or the animal moved wrongly were thrown away. The hardest part was keeping the bracelet recognisable from the macro to the wide shots. The film was then finished like any premium production: edited to a slow, confident pace, graded to Cartier's red-and-gold palette, and delivered in 4K.
The Details
- 01
The product comes first
The opening shot is the bracelet, not the panther. The screw motif, the curve of the band and the light along its edge are on screen before the story starts, so the product is the hero from the first second.
- 02
Built from the brand’s own codes
The panther has been a Cartier emblem for over a century, and the red and gold echo the red Cartier box. Putting the LOVE bracelet on the panther combines two of the house’s icons in one image, the kind of brand literacy a luxury marketing team looks for.
- 03
A camera at paw height
In the hallway the camera stays low, so the bracelet sits in the frame on every step and keeps catching the lamp light. The product stays readable even in the wide shot.
- 04
A setting that says Paris without saying it
Carved wall panelling, herringbone parquet and city lights out of focus through the window. No establishing shot or caption needed.
- 05
Light that feels real
Everything looks lit by the lamps in the room: warm wall lights, deep blacks, shallow focus. That is what separates a luxury film from the glossy, over-lit look most AI video still has.
