Google Ads vs Meta Ads in Singapore: Which Should Your SME Use?
Google Ads vs Facebook and Instagram ads for Singapore SMEs: Google captures people already searching, Meta creates demand. Which suits you, and how to test.
Frequently asked questions
Is Google Ads or Facebook Ads better for a small business in Singapore?
Neither is better across the board. Google Search is usually the better first channel when customers already search for what you sell, such as aircon servicing, plumbers or tuition. Meta (Facebook and Instagram) is usually better when the product sells on looks, novelty or an offer, such as a new cafe, a facial package or a renovation style, because it puts you in front of people before they start searching.
Can I run WhatsApp ads on both Google and Meta in Singapore?
Meta's ads that click to WhatsApp open a WhatsApp chat straight from a Facebook or Instagram ad, and work with the WhatsApp Business app. Google offers message assets on Search and Performance Max that can start a WhatsApp chat, but Google lists the feature as beta with eligibility requirements, so it may not appear in your account. Where it is unavailable, a clear WhatsApp button on the landing page does most of the job.
How much does an enquiry cost on Google or Meta in Singapore?
As directional benchmarks in ad spend, Singapore enquiries tend to cost roughly SGD 2–8 for home services, 3–10 for F&B, 8–20 for beauty and wellness, 10–30 for renovation, 15–40 for education and 20–45 for healthcare and eldercare. Your own number depends on your offer, landing page, area and how fast you reply. Compare platforms on cost per qualified enquiry, not cost per click.
Should I split my first ad budget between Google and Meta?
Only if the budget is big enough for each platform to produce a meaningful number of enquiries. If it is small, put most of it on the platform that matches how your customers buy, and run a smaller, time-boxed test on the other. A budget spread thinly across both usually produces two inconclusive results instead of one clear one.
How long should I test Google Ads or Meta Ads before deciding?
Plan for about 60 days. The first two weeks are for fixing tracking, junk searches and creative that does not land; weeks three to six are for collecting enough enquiries to compare; the final weeks are for shifting budget to what works. Judging a platform after one week usually means judging the setup, not the channel.
